Dr. Andrew Jones’ Veterinary Secrets Revealed is a very well done and thorough resource book. With 477 fact filled pages, this book completely covers everything a dog owner could ever need to know about dog health problems. Dr. Jones has practiced as a veterinarian for over 17 years, so his experience makes the information in his book very relevant.

Dr. Jones becomes very disillusioned with tradition methods of veterinary medicine when his dog tragically died of spleen cancer at the fairly young age of 8. He had cared for his pet using these approved methods of vet care, and couldn’t understand why they had let him down so badly. Dr. Jones spend a lot of time researching traditional veterinary medicine methods, and found some glaring problems.

Three of the most blatant problems are listed here:

  • Inside commercial dog food products are many toxic ingredients that are outlawed for human consumption. Research shows that adulterants like these are linked to many diseases dog’s have, including diabetes, allergies, and even cancers.
  • The annual vaccinations we give our dogs may actually be causing other dog health problems through their side effects.
  • Many of the standard prescription drugs, regularly used by traditional vets, are producing bad side effects in our dogs. Dr. Jones teaches us in Veterinary Secrets Revealed, that lots of the common ailments that are being treated with prescription medicines can be treated with a more natural healthy alternative.

In Veterinary Secrets Revealed, Dr. Jones reveals  his “effective solutions to battle” against  skin problems, eye irritations, digestion problems , urinary problems, dental problems, abscesses, allergies, arthritis, ear scratching due to infection or ear mites, cancer, hip dysplasia, and literally dozens more afflictions common to our pets. These are just a fraction of the many common and uncommon types of dog health problems that are included in this very thorough book.

Not only does Dr. Jones help you identify and diagnose your dog’s illness, he also offers treatments that you may be able to do at home, just using some household ingredients. If you can effectively treat an ailment your pet has with something you already have in your household, you don’t need to pay for an expensive trip to the vet. Once example is using the herb eye bright in order to correct your pet dog’s eye irritation problems. Another example teaches you about which common vitamin will cure certain skin conditions. You will be surprised how many vet visits you can save just by having the information in this book.

For any fan of natural healing methods, the alternative methods of treating dog ailments, will be very appealing. In his book, Dr. Jones has provided his readers with proven methods of holistic healing that he has tested in his own veterinary practice.  If you go to the website for Veterinary Secrets Revealed,  you will see the many testimonials from people he has helped regain their dog’s good health.

Dr. Jones book’s main benefits, will be to help you avoid expensive vet trips, by learning how to treat many common ailments yourself. Dr. Jones isn’t asking you to entirely avoid the vet, but rather he advises you whether your dog’s problem is serious enough to merit a  vet appointment or if you can take care of the problem yourself at home.

Dr. Jones offers his customers a 60 day money-back guarantee, so if you don’t love his book, your money will be returned.

Not only do I highly recommend getting Veterinary Secrets Revealed, but it  more than pays for itself the very first time you avoid an expensive trip to the vet. So check out Veterinary Secrets Revealed, and enjoy the secure feeling of knowing what you need to know so your doggy can have the best possible health throughout his life, and so you can save a bunch of money, too. For more information about helping your dog have the best possible health through out his lifetime or to learn the right kind of food to feed your dog, please visit my website.

Barking, chewing, pulling on the leash, jumping on people, these are just a few of the topics that fall under the heading problem dog behavior.Experienced dog owners are usually familiar with these common problems and it is important to know why a dog behaves in these ways.Knowing why a dog behaves in these ways will help you to not mismanage the situation. You may be new to dog ownership or you might just want advice on handleing your dog’s behavior. What ever your reasons are, it is important to understand problem behaviors as a way of both preventing and solving them.

One of the first things that you need to know is that a tired dog is a good dog.Problem dog behavior is often caused by a dog having too much energy.  If a dog gets enough exercise, he or she will be much less likely to exhibit undesirable behaviors.Do you understand that?Do you feel tired after a good workout?  Are you tired?  What do you want to do?Do you think this would help you to have a better nights sleep?.You will also get more exercise if you make sure that your dog is getting enough exercise.  Don’t forget, you have made a commitment to care for this animal, you must make sure that it gets enough exercise.

Some of the most common problem dog behaviors are
- Barking
- Chewing
- Straining On The Leash
- Not Listening To Commands
- Incorrect or No House Training (Potty Training)

It is best to understand why your dog is behaving in these ways.  Barking for example, is one of a dog’s ways of communicating and a  dog has different reasons to communicate, some reasons could indicate serious problems.  Another example is chewing.Even though chewing is another natural behavior for dogs, it is a problem if it causes damage.  How about house breaking, or in other words potty training?Does that have an effect on your life?

Problems can develop with these behaviors and dogs have reasons for behaving in these ways.If you can learn why the dog is behaving in a certain way you might be able to remove something or change something in its environment. You need to find the reason that is causing the dog to behave in a certain way.Don’t forget that a tired dog is a good dog.Walk your dog or play with it a lot so that it gets enough exercise. The relationship between you and your dog will be more fulfilling if you know how to deal with your dog’s problem behaviors.

One of the biggest problems that professional dog trainers find is that people have attempted to train their own dogs without proper knowledge or direction.Inappropriate behaviors that have been learned this way must sometimes be untrained. Its not that a person can’t teach their dog simple commands, but when teaching some things, unwanted behaviors might be taught along with the wanted behaviors.  This is why it is critical to learn from a professional.  Do you have to go to classes? It depends on your situation. Classes are good for some, but you have to take into account your individual time and financial resources.Everyone has different commitments, it is sometimes best to set your own schedule. You can get some very good training courses.

These problems require that you get proper advice. You could make the problem worse if you do the wrong thing.  Get help with PROBLEM DOG BEHAVIOR

Today, most dog owners allow their dog to stay indoors and sleep on the couch or in their own bed. Sometimes, the dog will sleep not only near the feet of its master but he will actually get to sleep beside him or them. My sister in California had a German Shepherd who slept with them all through the night. Yes, that’s “had” because now, their doctor advised her to sell the dog because she is being attacked by her allergies. They don’t have a dog house and the doctor said it is better to get a pet that don’t have long fur so to avoid further allergic attacks. So, with tears in her eyes, she sold the dog but she was still thinking about getting a German Shepherd. Now, what her husband did was to learn how to build a dog house before then can ever buy another German Shepherd.

Unfortunately, her husband doesn’t know how to build & because they are certified dog lovers, they are thinking about making their dog more comfortable. One day, her husband plans of hiring someone to make the dog house. Until one time, she accidentally stumbled upon this site that offers a book guide that has some dog house plans for the owners to learn on how to build one on their own. She was thinking that if both of them can have a copy of this book, they can save time and money. So, she showed this to my brother-in-law and right there, he loved it.

So, they purchased this book and the book guide that they have ordered is the one that shows some insulated dog house plans. This could well be very perfect for they want their dog to be as warm and comfortable as possible. Now, she can have a new German Shepherd and she doesn’t have to worry if she gets some allergies and she doesn’t have to worry if the dog is okay out there or not. And so, the next thing they did was to look for a German Shepherd and they did found one.

If dog is supposed to be man’s best friend, why are some dogs so aggressive towards humans? This is a very important question indeed but one that you will find gets asked a lot in the dog community. An aggressive dog can be a real danger to humans and even a dog that is only aggressive to strangers or to certain types of people is still a danger.

When it comes to dog on human aggression, one of your first priorities should be the safety of your dog and any people he may come in contact with. You wouldn’t want anyone visiting your home to be bitten by this aggressive dog.

Alternatively, aggressive dogs that get outside of their property can bite or injure someone else or even end up shot and killed themselves by a stranger who fears them and their aggressiveness. It will be best for everyone involved if you keep the dog in an enclosed but safe area while you deal with the aggression problem.

Most signs of aggression in dogs towards human are very obvious. Your dog could bark, snap, snarl, growl or rear back and show his teeth. He might take an aggressive stance with an intense stare and a raised back. Even a small dog can be very intimidating in this pose~It can be intimidating even for a small dog in this pose}~Even a small dog will appear very intimidating~It can be intimidating even for a small dog in this pose}~Even the littlest dog comes across as intimidating~It can be intimidating even for a small dog in this pose}.

There are different reasons behind why a dog is aggressive to a human. Sometimes it is fear that comes from an incident or incidents earlier in the dog’s life. Sometimes dogs that are abused as puppies will turn into aggressive adults.

Another reason for human aggression is a dog that is not properly socialized. Some puppies that are born and bred in “puppy mills” or kennel farms where they basically mass-produce bred dogs will lack the socialization and human contact that dogs need when domesticated. This leads to aggression and fear when the dog gets adopted.

They could be trying to protect their home or owners in a territorial sense. This is when it’s important to let your dog know that it is safe and that the other people are ok. Use a calm but firm voice. If you over-react or speak too loudly or get too excited, you will only feed your dog’s aggression and tension.

When your dog shows signs of calming his aggressiveness, it’s very important that you respond with a great deal of praise, positive reinforcement and even a treat. To see more of the same type of behavior, you need to encourage him when he does well.

Now that you have a better understanding of dog on human aggression, you can see why this is a problem for many dogs and their owners. You will know what options exist to help you and your dog when you find yourself in the same position.

Clicker training-4 Secrets of Becoming a Supertrainer, written by Norwegian dog training experts Morton Egtvedt and Cecile Koeste definitely has proved effective in teaching many thousands of people to obedience train their dogs.

In Scandinavia, Morton and Cecile’s various dog training books are very popular and have sold in the hundreds of thousands books their have sold hundreds of thousands of copies. You have probably seen some examples of trainers using clickers while working with their animals. These little “clickers” make a distinctive noise when clicked. You learn how and when to use the clicker to  effectively teach your dog his obedience training. You learn to use the clicker along with positive training methods to get the best possible results in the shortest amount of time. Because not all dogs are responsive to the same exact training techniques, Morton and Cecile offer more than one way to teach each exercise. Find the right method for your dog, and teach him with that.

You use the clicker to mark the moment your dog does his trick correctly. One example would be clicking the clicker the moment your dog has responded correctly to a command to sit or stay or down-which marks and reinforces the training exercise. The clicker training will help a dog with problem solving, because to get the click and a reward, they must first figure out what they need to do, and then do it.

One thing that every dog must do is come when called. This is for the dogs own good as well as the welfare of other pets and people. Dogs need to be taught this for their own good because they can run into danger, like a car or an untrained animal. Once a dog is trained to come when called, you can take him out in public places.

It is not hard training for dogs to learn how to come when called. Basically, you would give your dog special treats when it listens to you. Training should be enjoyable for both you and your pet.

Before you start this type of dog teach training, make sure the animal is going to react positively to the type of food you will give him. Show the food to your pet and let him smell it. If he likes it, you can start.

Use small size food when dog pet training. You do not want to feed the animal too much where he does not get motivated to want to more food. Chicken and cheese are good to use.

Many professional dog trainers want the dog owner to work with them when they train the dog. This is because the dog must not only listen to one person. They need to understand that anyone who is in charge of them, will need them to listen. If your family member wants to watch the dog, he will have a problem if your dog only listens to you. Have a friend or family member call the dog and then you do the same. Have your dog go back and forth, going from you to your friend. This is a great exercise. Stand about 30 feet away from each other in a safe place. You can call the dog and tell it to sit. Your friend can call the dog after you and then he can give the dog a treat. Every time the dog comes, give the dog a treat.

Try spreading out farther and farther away from each other. The dog will eventually have to look for you. It must find you to get the food. This will teach the dog how to come when called.

If you want to use a really good dog training video program, how can you know which is the best? After viewing several on-line dog training video programs out there, my favorite one is Dove Cresswell’s Dog and Puppy Training Online. Dove is well known as a dog trainer to the stars. Some obvious proof that Dove really knows what she is doing, is the fact that she frequently  hired to train the dogs for many movies and television productions. After teaching dogs in the movies to do all kinds of crazy stunts, it is pretty easy for Dove to show us how to obedience train our dogs.

Dove’s program has been divided into 7 easy to follow video modules (Dove has no book, just the easily down-loadable videos to use whenever needed). I think the video training works best for those of us who learn better from watching and listening rather than just from reading. Logically, the training modules start with learning how to house train your new puppy. Following that, you will begin teaching your puppy the first steps of obedience training. By paying attention to the early puppy training, you get started right with creating a bond between you and your dog, that will help him grow into the great dog you want to have.

Dove’s video module follow the natural sequence that puppies grow through on their way to maturity, and teaches the exercises in an the appropriate order when your dog becomes ready for them. All of Dove’s training features positive training methods, and teaches you need never to yell at or hit your dog to get good results. Dove knows how to use a happy upbeat style to make the obedience training sessions fun for both you and your dog. If you make the training sessions fun for your dog, I guarantee you he will learn his exercises much faster. By the end of the program Dove will have taught you how to have your dog doing some very advanced special tricks.

Dove’s videos provide excellent examples of the confident body language and upbeat vocal commands that will best communicate your instructions to your dog. Dove helps you understand some dog psychology that permits you to see how your dog is viewing his world. This understanding will make you a better dog trainer, and teach you what common dog training mistakes you need to avoid.

Like us, dogs don’t always learn the same lessons through the same methods. Therefore, Dove teaches you a few different techniques for various training exercise steps-just in case your dog is not responsive to one particular style.

Besides the 7 dog training modules that are the heart of Dove’s program, Dove also has some bonus incentives for her customers. Just in case you have any questions about training your dog, Dove also offers free email consultations so she can give you expert advice on solving your pet’s particular issues.

Included with Dove’s dog Training Online, you also get some fun eBooks for teaching even more advanced tricks to your dog. The bonus eBooks include:

1. The first of the bonuses is an eBook teaching you the best way to get your dog to fetch.

2. Playing Soccer with your dog is the topic of the second bonus eBook. Dogs love this game, and my dog is now a world class goalie.

3. The 3rd bonus is an eBook about playing “Hide’N’Seek”- with your dog.

4. The 4th bonus is an eBook on Dog Sports, which are rapidly becoming more and more popular.

5. The fifth bonus is an eBook about how to be the Alpha dog of your pack, so you earn your dog’s respect and get the best training results possible.

6. This bonus features a report about what dog is good for your pet. Find out about the poor nutrition and lack of health benefits most commercial dog foods have.

7. The 7th bonus reports on the very best kinds of toys for your doggy.

Dove completely guarantees her Dog Training Online video program, so if  you are not completely happy with your purchase, you can get every bit of your money back.

I  highly recommend Dove Cresswell’s Dog Training Online video program to anyone who wants to have a well trained dog at home, especially if you are the kind of person who learns better form watching and listening, than from reading a book. Go ahead and check out Dove Cresswell’s Dog Training Online, and see for yourself how easy it can be to get great results obedience training your own dog at home.

Dogs have several types of aggression problems, but dog aggression  directed at people  is the biggest problem of all of these. A dog that has begun acting aggressively towards people may be just one step away from biting a family member or a visitor to your home.

If you notice your dog has aggression towards people, you must correct that behavior prior to it becoming a real dangerous problem. Usually a dog will have a reason that has resulted in his becoming aggressive. Often the reason for aggression towards people is that the dog has been previously abused by a former master or someone else.

If you know what to look for, the signs of aggression towards people are easy to spot. The dog will be snarling or growling while displaying his teeth. Often a dog feeling aggressive will be barking, snapping his teeth, and have all the hair on its back raised up. A dog in this state of aggression towards people could easily escalate from aggression to actual biting unless something is done to defuse the situation.

Through repeated abuse over time negative conditioning has led to your dog’s current state of aggression. Therefore, by using positive conditioning, you can gradually correct your dog’s aggressive nature-repeating a steady training method of positive reinforcement to restore your dog’s trust and confidence in people, and thus finally remove his aggression towards people.

Do not let your aggressive dog run loose until you have retrained him not to be aggressive towards people. Be sure to keep your aggressive dog inside an enclosed yard, or if you have no fence, be sure to keep him on a lead so he cannot get loose and possibly attack any passersby.

You can use this training technique to gradually correct your dog’s aggression problem towards people. Being your dog’s training by arranging to visit with a friend of yours-if the dog already has met this person, all the better. Meet on neutral turf, so your dog’s territorial aggression instincts are not engaged. You should already have put your dog’s leash on before you start the training. By controlling your dog via his leash, you can prevent any lunges by your dog. If your dog does act aggressively you must correct him immediately, and put him back into his sit position while saying “no” in a calm firm voice. However, do not yell at your dog or punish him for this aggression. Doing that will only negatively impact your training efforts, by keeping your dog tense.

Do not give him any praise or affection or a treat until he has resumed a relaxed sitting position. If he is doing the right thing, sitting in a relaxed posture, now is the right time to reinforce him with praise and a treat. By only praising him when he is doing something you approve of, you are positively conditioning the responses you want. When your dog shows any aggression at all, you must repeat this step to get it to eventually sink in. Through the positive reinforcement your dog not gets, his aggression towards people will eventually be desensitized through repeated exposures to them.

You will want to practice stopping your dog’s aggression towards people often to really establish your dog’s new found ability to be relaxed around other people. Once he has become relaxed around the friend you began the training with, you can begin introducing  him to other people until he shows he can relax when meeting anyone new.

Until later in his training just introduce him to 1 new person at a time. too many people could make it difficult for your dog to relax. Once your dog has shown he can remain calm when meeting a variety of new people one on one, you may increase the amount of people around during the training. Keep working at his training step by step until you reach your goal of having a dog that is comfortable around people in social situations-so that your pet can be a fun part of the group, instead of terrorizing it.

Follow these simple steps and you can teach your dog that people might not be so bad after all, and that he can finally be comfortable around people without needing to worry about being struck. If you have successfully corrected his aggression problems towards people, you will finally have a dog that is safe and fun for your family and friends to be around.  Now a walk with your dog in public will be fun instead of a challenge.

doggie day care Chandler AZ

Dog owners in the Phoenix, Arizona East Valley suburbs don’t have to leave their pets cooped up in the house, a cage or a kennel all day while they are away. Owner and proprietor Christine Mitsoff says the new Rico’s Doggie Day Care treats dogs much like kids would be treated in a child day care.

“We allow dogs to run around our fenced-in back yard, and play with the other dogs. All dogs are free to roam and play. We want them to have fun, not be put in small crates,” said Mitsoff, who runs the service out of her home in the Cooper Commons neighborhood in Chandler.

Physical exercise for your dog is one of the many benefits of this kind of dog day care.

“Many many dogs spend a lot of time home alone, with the very busy lives most people live these days, sleeping and eating themselves into lethargy and obesity,” Mitsoff said. “Just like fit humans, fit dogs feel better, sleep better, and have more energy, as well as encounter fewer health and behavioral problems. This not only translates into happier people and pets but fewer medical expenses.”

Your pooch’s mental health will be helped by being around other canines in dog day care.

According to Mitsoff, “Being able to socialize with other breeds helps support positive dog behavior.”

Play time at Rico’s is three hours in the morning and four hours in the afternoon. The dogs are free to take a nap at any time they get tired, of course. Or, if overly heated, they are free to jump in the in-ground pool to cool off. Nap time is designated as between noon and 1 p.m., and lunch is served one hour before then between 11 a.m. and noon.

Washes by David Vega, training dog walks with Tyler Vega and obedience training from the entire staff are the other dog day care services available at Rico’s. If your pup needs to be picked up, Rico’s will do that for a nominal fee.

Mitsoff said, “Each dog leaves Rico’s Doggie Day Care with a daily report card, free kisses and tired from a full day of fun.”

Rico’s is only a few minutes’ drive from most points in Chandler, Gilbert and Mesa in the East Valley. For more information and pricing, visit the Rico’s Doggie Day Care Web site at http://www.dog-daycare.net.
